Can It Work?
Yes, with proper introduction and management. Best results when:
- The husky is raised with cats from puppyhood
- The cat is confident and dog-savvy
- Introductions are gradual (weeks, not days)
Introduction Steps
Week 1: Scent Exchange
Swap blankets between cat and dog areas.
Week 2: Visual Contact
Baby gate between them. Reward calm behavior.
Week 3: Supervised Meetings
Husky on leash. Short sessions. Lots of treats for ignoring the cat.
Week 4+: Gradual Freedom
Increase off-leash time with supervision.
Safety Rules
- Always provide cat escape routes (high shelves, cat doors)
- Never leave alone unsupervised until 100% confident
- Feed separately
