What Is an Agouti Husky?

Agouti is a rare color pattern where each hair shaft has alternating bands of color, giving a wild, wolf-like appearance.

Appearance

  • Dark face with minimal white markings
  • Banded fur (dark and light bands on each hair)
  • Usually dark eyes
  • Darker overall than standard huskies

Genetics

The agouti pattern is caused by the "aw" allele at the A locus. It's recessive, meaning both parents must carry the gene.

Are They Different?

No. Agouti huskies have the same temperament, health, and care needs as any Siberian Husky. The only difference is coat color.

Rarity & Price

Agouti huskies are quite rare. Expect to pay $1,500-3,000 from a reputable breeder. Be wary of breeders charging excessive premiums for color alone.
