Husky Hip Dysplasia
Hip dysplasia is a genetic condition where the hip socket doesn't fully cover the ball of the femur, leading to joint instability and arthritis.
Symptoms
- Difficulty rising from sitting or lying
- Reluctance to jump, run, or climb stairs
- Bunny-hopping gait
- Limping or favoring one leg
- Decreased activity
Diagnosis
X-rays under sedation. PennHIP or OFA evaluation for breeding dogs.
Treatment Options

Prevention
- Choose breeders who OFA-test parents

- Avoid excessive exercise before 12 months
- Joint supplements (glucosamine/chondroitin) from age 2
